Castello di Ama

Castello di Ama is a prestigious Chianti Classico estate based in the tiny hamlet of Ama, near Gaiole in Chianti. In the 1970s a group of Roman families revived the abandoned property, and later Lorenza Sebasti and Marco Pallanti became the faces of the estate, guiding it towards a quality-focused, terroir-driven style.

Ama is also well known beyond wine for its contemporary art project, begun around 2000, in which international artists create works for the estate's buildings, gardens and cellars. In the glass, the wines show elegance and a sense of place, with Sangiovese at the centre and careful use of Merlot and Chardonnay in other bottlings.
