Tasting notes

Golden-straw colour. A rich nose of ripe apple, pear and citrus with notes of honey, hazelnut and gentle oak. The palate is full and creamy yet balanced by fresh acidity, with a long, elegant finish that will continue to develop with age.

About this wine

First Vintage is a limited collector's series from Bononia Estate in the Vidin region of north-west Bulgaria. It celebrates the first harvest bottled in the winery's own cellar: four wines from the 2019 vintage – Riesling, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc and Cabernet Sauvignon – produced once and never to be repeated.

Only 1,500 bottles of this Chardonnay were made. Each bottle carries a unique serial number and a hand-drawn label depicting the vineyards and the cellar of Bononia Estate. It is a wine of high collector's value with a long life ahead.

Serve at 10–12 °C with fish, seafood or poultry.
