Tasting notes

Vibrant ruby red. Arbutus berries, redcurrant and floral Sangiovese notes on the nose, with balsamic hints and roasted notes that emerge with air. Dry on the palate, with dense yet silky tannins and a long finish.

About this wine

Montesodi is the single-vineyard cru of Castello di Nipozzano, in Chianti Rufina: a Sangiovese vineyard at 400 metres on schist soils, facing south-west.

The grapes are picked by hand into 15 kg crates and sorted berry by berry. After fermentation and maceration, and malolactic fermentation after racking, the wine ages 18 months in 30 hl Austrian and French oak barrels and several more months in bottle. This listing is the 2017 vintage.
