Tasting notes

Deep ruby-black. Aromas of dried plum, blackberry jam, cocoa and spice. Sweet and velvety on the palate, kept in balance by Mavrud's tannin and fresh acidity, with a long, chocolatey finish.

About this wine

A dessert wine from Mavrud is an unusual choice, because the grape is famous for its tannins rather than its sweetness. Dragomir, a small winery near Plovdiv founded by two oenologists, has made it work.

The sweetness is balanced by tannin and acidity, giving a profile of dried plum, blackberry, cocoa and spice. A distinctive Bulgarian dessert wine in a 500 ml bottle.
