Tasting notes

Light amber colour from three years in Bulgarian oak. The nose combines the floral, grapey aromatics of Red Misket with vanilla, dried fruit and gentle oak. Balanced and smooth on the palate, with a round texture, mild sweetness and a long, warm finish.

About this wine

Rakia Kulturna Aged from Karabunar Winery is a classic aged grape rakia made from Red Misket, the aromatic pink-skinned Bulgarian grape. The winery is in the village of Karabunar near Pazardzhik, in the Thracian Lowlands.

The distillate matures for no less than three years in barrels of Bulgarian oak, which creates a light amber colour and a richer aromatic profile. The rakia is versatile and balanced – suitable both well chilled with salads and appetisers and for slow, contemplative sipping.

Serve at 10–14 °C.
