Tasting notes

Deep ruby-red colour. An intense nose of fresh raspberry over blackberry, plum and sweet spice. On the palate the fruit sweetness of the raspberry meets the tannins and body of Mavrud, giving a rich, rounded wine with a long, fruity finish.

About this wine

G. Filipoff Raspberry & Mavrud is an unusual creation from Zagrey, a winery in Parvomay in the Thracian Lowlands: a raspberry fruit wine blended with Mavrud, the most Bulgarian of all red grapes.

The fruity sweetness of the raspberry sits on top of the tannins and density of Mavrud, so the result stands somewhere between a dessert wine and a red. The aromatics are clearly raspberry, over blackberry and spice, with the structure of a real wine underneath.

Serve lightly chilled at 12–14 °C with chocolate desserts, mature cheeses or simply on its own.
