Tasting notes

Platinum with greenish lights, a fine lively bead and a creamy mousse. The nose is floral first — lime blossom, acacia, jasmine — then turns to vanilla cream and raisin pastry. The palate opens on citrus peel and liquorice, moves through juniper, star anise and hawthorn, and finishes fresh with a cool minty note.

About this wine

Nicolas Feuillatte was founded in 1976 at Chouilly, in the heart of the Côte des Blancs, and has access to one of the widest spreads of grower vineyards in Champagne — which is what makes a bottling of this kind possible.

This is a vintage Blanc de Blancs: Chardonnay alone, and only from Grand Cru villages of the Côte des Blancs, where the chalk lies close to the surface and gives the wines their characteristic tension and cut. The 2015 then spent a minimum of eight years in the house cellars before disgorgement.

That long rest on the lees is what turns raw Chardonnay acidity into the creamy, pastry-scented depth found here.
