Tasting notes

Very pale salmon pink with a silvery rim. A delicate nose of white peach, pear and redcurrant, with the faint herbal note typical of the variety. Bone dry on the palate, light and clean, with fine acidity and a short, refreshing finish on white fruit and citrus.

About this wine

Bernard Baudry founded his estate at Cravant-les-Côteaux in 1975; his son Matthieu has worked alongside him since 2000. The Chinon vineyards have been farmed organically since 2006.

The rosé is made from Cabernet Franc grown on gravel parcels and on younger vines up the slope. The fruit is pressed directly, which is what gives the wine its pale colour, and the juice is then fermented to complete dryness in concrete tanks.

Production is limited, and the style is closer to a light red handled gently than to a fruit-driven summer rosé.
