Tasting notes

Deep ruby. Intense on the nose with blackcurrant, Mediterranean herbs and a hint of spice. The palate is elegant and lively, with ripe tannins and a fresh, savoury finish. The barrique ageing adds a light touch of sweet spice, while the sea influence keeps it vibrant and very drinkable.

About this wine

The Mazzei family has been making wine in Tuscany since 1435. Their Belguardo estate lies in the Maremma near Grosseto, close to the Tyrrhenian Sea, whose breezes keep the vineyards fresh.

Tirrenico takes its name from the legendary prince Tyrrhenus, linked by tradition to the Etruscans and the spread of wine in central Italy. It blends 70% Cabernet Sauvignon with 30% Alicante (Grenache) from sandy soils at 70 to 130 metres.

After 20 days of maceration, the wine ages 14 months in French barriques, gaining structure while keeping its Mediterranean energy.
