Tasting notes

Bright ruby, remarkable for its age. Imposing structure and lively acidity, with fresh yet evolved fruit, balsamic notes and a light floral lift. Balanced, soft and enveloping on the palate, closing on a long, elegant and mineral finish.

About this wine

The Biondi-Santi Riserva comes from the oldest vines at Tenuta Greppo in Montalcino, plants of more than twenty-five years, and is produced only in the finest years — around forty times since 1888.

After three years in Slavonian oak casks the bottles spend a long period in the estate's historic library, La Storica, before release. This bottle comes in its own presentation box.

2006 followed a damp spring with a hot, dry July, a sequence that produced a Riserva of imposing structure and the kind of acidity that carries a wine for decades.
