Tasting notes

Deep gold with amber lights. The nose layers orange-blossom honey, candied orange peel, dried figs, dates and peaches in syrup, with herbal and oriental spice notes behind. The palate is enveloping and elegant, the sweetness held in check by a line of fresh acidity that carries a long finish.

About this wine

L'Ecrù is Firriato's naturally sweet passito, made from Zibibbo grown at Borgo Guarini, the winery's largest estate in the province of Trapani. It is a wine built on patience rather than fortification.

Part of the crop is laid out to dry in the sun for about a month, concentrating sugar and aroma. The dried fruit is then steeped in freshly fermenting wine made from late-harvested Zibibbo, a technique that carries the raisined character into the finished wine while keeping its acidity alive.
