Tasting notes

Dark ruby. Aromas of blackberry, dried plum, black pepper and leather. Medium-full body with firm but ripening tannins, fresh acidity and a peppery, savoury finish.

About this wine

Zaara Estate is a winery in the Stara Zagora area, and Dogma is its more ambitious series. Mavrud is the grape that is almost never found outside Bulgaria: dark, late-ripening and rich in tannin.

The 2019 has aged enough to drink now, showing blackberry, dried plum, black pepper and leather. A characterful taste of authentic Bulgarian winemaking.

Serve at 16–18 °C, opened an hour ahead, with lamb or grilled meat.
