Tasting notes

Deep ruby colour with garnet reflections from the age. The nose shows ripe cherry, blackberry and dried plum with tobacco, leather and sweet spice. Medium to full-bodied, with ripe, polished tannins and a long, warm finish shaped by the sunny Struma Valley.

About this wine

Rupel Winery sits in the Rupel Gorge, the scenic pass of the Struma River between the Belasitsa and Sengel mountains, in the village of Dolno Spanchevo east of Petrich. The gorge is a corridor for warm Aegean air, and vines have grown here for centuries.

Gramatik Exarch 2015 is a red blend of Melnik 55, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Marselan and Sangiovese. The grapes were selected during harvest, and the wine aged 4 to 6 months in oak barrels before the final blending in the cellar.

Serve at 16–18 °C with red meat, game or mature cheeses.
