Tasting notes

Deep garnet. Aromas of black cherry, plum, cedar, tobacco and sweet spice from oak ageing. Medium-full body with fresh acidity and well-defined, polished tannins, leading to a long, spicy finish.

About this wine

Maryan winery lies near the village of the same name in the Elena Balkan, an area of altitude and coolness unusual for Bulgarian viticulture. The result is fresher, tighter wines with good tension.

The Reserve is a red blend aged in oak barrels. The 2017 shows black cherry, plum, cedar, tobacco and sweet spice, with a medium-full body, clear acidity and well-defined tannins. A structured, food-friendly red now drinking beautifully.

Serve at 16–18 °C with roast meat, game or aged hard cheeses.
