Tasting notes

Straw yellow deepening with age. Young, it is fresh and citrus-driven, with white flowers and a herbal Sauvignon lift. With a few years in bottle the fruit gives way to riper, more complex notes of dried apricot, honey and nut. The palate is full yet firmly acidic, closing dry and long.

About this wine

Nozze d'Oro, the golden wedding, was created by Count Giuseppe Tasca d'Almerita to mark his fiftieth wedding anniversary, and comes from the Regaleali estate in central Sicily. It has been one of the island's benchmark whites ever since.

Inzolia grows in the Barbabietole vineyard, while Sauvignon Tasca, a local selection identified as Sauvignon only in the late 1980s, comes from Tramontana above 500 metres. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel with indigenous yeasts and no malolactic fermentation, which is what gives the wine its unusual capacity to age.
