Tasting notes

Pale straw with greenish reflections. The nose is fresh and precise, with green apple, white peach, lime zest and a faint note of flint. The palate is dry and taut, with lively acidity, a slightly peppery edge and a clean, saline finish that lingers on citrus and wet stone.

About this wine

Eisacktaler Kellerei — Cantina Valle Isarco — is a growers' cooperative based at Chiusa, in the narrow Isarco Valley of Alto Adige. Its members farm terraced plots between 500 and 850 metres, on stony mineral soils of weathered diorite and quartz phyllite.

The Riesling from the classic range is pressed gently and fermented at controlled temperature in stainless steel. Malolactic fermentation is deliberately avoided and the wine rests on its fine lees, which preserves the cut and the aromatic lift that altitude gives it.

It is one of the clearest expressions of Alpine Riesling in Italy: dry, nervy and built around acidity rather than fruit weight.
