How to serve it
Tasting notes
Pale straw yellow. The nose is restrained and savoury, with pear, acacia flower and a clear note of fresh almond. The palate is dry and medium-bodied, more about texture than fruit, with a faintly waxy feel and gentle acidity. The finish carries the variety's typical bitter-almond close.
About this wine
Friulano is the signature white of Collio, and for most of its history it answered to another name: Tocai Friulano, until European naming rules forced the change. The single letter on this Collavini label is a nod to that older identity.
The Collavini family has farmed in Friuli since 1896 and today works from a sixteenth-century villa at Corno di Rosazzo, in the heart of the Collio denomination. The marl-and-sandstone soils there, combined with Adriatic breezes and cool alpine nights, suit a variety that rewards restraint: picked ripe but not late, fermented clean, bottled without fuss.
The result is the classic Collio profile — dry, savoury, with the bitter-almond signature that marks the grape.
