Tasting notes

Pale straw yellow with green highlights. The nose shows fresh citrus, almond, melon, lavender and broom. The palate is soft and fresh, with Mediterranean minerality and an elegant finish. Lees stirring adds a soft, creamy texture, while a savoury, saline note and bright acidity keep it lively and long.

About this wine

Firriato is the Di Gaetano family winery based in Paceco, near Trapani, farming around 490 hectares of certified organic vineyards across several estates from western to eastern Sicily.

The Grillo of the "Altavilla della Corte" line comes from the hillside plots of the Borgo Guarini estate, at about 250 metres, with south-west exposure and limestone-clay soils. The grapes are hand-picked in late August and early September, and the wine rests for about three months on its lees in stainless steel, stirred daily.

It is a fresh, Mediterranean white, here in a practical 375 ml half bottle.
