Tasting notes

Intense straw yellow with a fine perlage. The bouquet is complex and aromatic, with citrus, white flowers, almond and bread crust. The palate is juicy and saline, with excellent freshness, a creamy mousse and a long, mineral finish.

About this wine

The Broglia family runs La Meirana, a historic estate in the municipality of Gavi in Piedmont, with documents mentioning the property as far back as 972. Its vineyards lie on marl soils at around 300 metres.

This rare Blanc de Blancs is made entirely from Cortese and shows the grape in a new light through slow ageing by the traditional method. For the 2018 vintage the base wine spent around three years in steel, followed by bottle refermentation and a further 24 months on the lees.

Complex, juicy and saline, it is a sparkling wine for special occasions that can carry a whole meal.
