Tasting notes

Bright straw yellow with golden glints and a fine, insistent perlage. White peach, citrus zest and acacia blossom open the nose, followed by brioche and toasted almond drawn from the long lees ageing. The palate is fresh and vital, well balanced, with a dry, mineral finish of real length.

About this wine

Antica Fratta stands at Monticelli Brusati, in the heart of Franciacorta, where cellar galleries cut into the rock in 1850 still hold the bottles. Cuvée Reale is the house's signature brut, built from the most recent harvest together with reserve wines from earlier years.

Those reserves spend about a year in French oak barrels and in clay amphorae before blending. The grapes are pressed gently, with a yield of no more than 45% must, and the assembled wine then rests at least twenty-four months on the lees in bottle. Dosage is kept low, at 4.5 g/l.
