Tasting notes

Gold with bright highlights. A precise, fruit-driven nose of cherry, lemon, quince, bergamot, hazelnut, peach and mirabelle plum with a hint of sea air. Fine, intense bubbles carry a rich, vinous body, delicate acidity and a long mineral finish.

About this wine

La Grande Année is the vintage Champagne of Bollinger, the house of Aÿ, made only in years the house considers exceptional. The 2014 unites grapes from 19 crus: 61% Pinot Noir, mainly from Aÿ and Verzenay, and 39% Chardonnay, chiefly from Chouilly and Oiry.

The wine is fermented entirely in oak barrels around twenty years old, then aged under natural cork for more than twice the minimum required by the appellation, with hand riddling and disgorgement. The dosage is 8 grams per litre.

The magnum format slows the wine's evolution and makes it a splendid centrepiece for a celebration table.
