Tasting notes

Deep gold with a fine, persistent bead. An intense nose of ripe orchard fruit, candied citrus, toasted hazelnut, brioche and a smoky, chalky undertone. The palate is powerful and vinous, with the depth of the 2012 vintage, a creamy mousse, firm acidity and a very long, dry, mineral finish.

About this wine

Dégorgement Tardif (late disgorgement) is a special edition of the numbered 700-series cuvées of Jacquesson, the Champagne house of Dizy: part of the bottles stays in the cellar on the lees under natural cork for years after the standard release and is disgorged much later.

Cuvée 740 is built on the 2012 harvest, one of the great recent vintages in Champagne. As with every cuvée in the series, only the first pressing is used and the wine is vinified and aged in oak foudres. The standard ageing of more than four years was extended by around five more years on the lees under cork.

The result is a Champagne with a marked vintage character, enriched by its exceptionally long lees contact and produced in very small quantities.
