Tasting notes
Pale gold with a fine, persistent bead. The nose is elegant and precise: white flowers, pear, lemon zest, brioche and a chalky, smoky note from the oak foudres. The palate is vinous and taut, with ripe fruit, vibrant acidity and a long, saline, bone-dry finish where the Pinot Noir of Aÿ and the Chardonnay of Avize shine.
About this wine
Jacquesson is a Champagne house in Dizy that in 2000 replaced its classic non-vintage Brut with the 700 series: numbered cuvées, each created as the best possible blend of its year, dominated by a single harvest and completed by a small share of reserve wines.
Cuvée 746 is built on the 2018 harvest, which the house describes as particularly fine and elegant with excellent ripeness. The grapes come from Aÿ, Dizy and Hautvillers (68%) and from Avize and Oiry (32%). Only the first pressing is used, and the wine is vinified and aged in oak foudres.
After more than four years on the lees it is disgorged with a minimal dosage of 2 g/l, letting the Pinot Noir of Aÿ and Dizy and the Chardonnay of Avize shine with great clarity.
