Tasting notes

Pale gold with a fine, persistent bead. The nose is precise and smoky, with lemon, green apple, white flowers, toasted almond and a distinct flinty note. The palate is taut and chiselled, with vibrant acidity, a chalky texture and a long, saline, bone-dry finish.

About this wine

Corne Bautray is one of the single-vineyard Champagnes of Jacquesson, the house of Dizy in the Marne Valley. It comes from a single plot in Dizy: one hectare of Chardonnay with vines around 65 years old.

The vineyard lies at the top of a steep south-west-facing slope at 204 metres, on clay soil scattered with flint (meulière) over Campanian chalk, and the vines are pruned in the Chablis style. As in all Jacquesson wines, only the first pressing is used.

A blanc de blancs from a single year and a single parcel, made in small quantities, it expresses the distinctive, flinty character of Chardonnay from Dizy.
