Tasting notes

Gold with bright reflections. The nose offers marzipan, stewed apricot, honey, toasted bread and fresh bergamot. The mousse is rich and precise, carrying citrus, mirabelle plum and vineyard peach, followed by fresh hazelnut and a saline, chalky note in the very long finish.

About this wine

R.D., short for Récemment Dégorgé, is one of the rarest Champagnes of Bollinger. It is a vintage wine fermented entirely in oak barrels that matures for many years in the cellar under natural cork and is disgorged only shortly before release, so that it combines the complexity of age with striking freshness.

The 2008 brings together grapes from 18 crus: 71% Pinot Noir, mainly from Aÿ and Verzenay, and 29% Chardonnay, chiefly from Le Mesnil-sur-Oger and Cramant. The dosage is a minimal 3 grams per litre, which places it in the Extra Brut category and lets the purity of the fruit speak.

Presented in its gift box, it is a collector's Champagne from a legendary vintage.
