Tasting notes
Pale salmon pink with orange glints and a fine bead. The nose offers strawberry, peony, kumquat and white currant, with notes of vanilla, toast and gingerbread from the long ageing. The palate is delicate and precise, with pink grapefruit, mandarin and brioche, a gentle salinity, silky mousse and a long, elegant finish.
About this wine
Belle Époque Rosé is the prestige rosé cuvée of Perrier-Jouët, the house founded in Épernay in 1811 and famous for its anemone-decorated bottle designed by Émile Gallé. First created in 1978, it is made only in exceptional years and in very small quantities.
The 2013 vintage followed a cold winter and a wet spring and was harvested late, giving wines of tension and finesse. The blend is 50% Pinot Noir, 45% Chardonnay and 5% Pinot Meunier from the crus of Cramant, Avize, Aÿ, Ambonnay, Mailly and Dizy, and the wine aged for at least six years in the house's cellars before release.
The result is a delicate, floral and gastronomic rosé Champagne with a pale salmon colour and remarkable length.
