Tasting notes

Pale pink with fine, lively bubbles. The nose opens on wild strawberries, raspberries and citrus blossom, followed by almond, fresh bread and cocoa bean. The palate is velvety and concentrated, with crystalline freshness, a saline chalky texture and a very long, savoury finish.

About this wine

Cristal Rosé is the pink version of Louis Roederer's legendary Cristal, created in 1974 and made only in exceptional years from the house's own vineyards in Aÿ, Avize and Le Mesnil-sur-Oger.

The 2013 vintage had a late cycle, a hot dry summer and a cool October harvest. The colour is obtained by Roederer's infusion technique: Chardonnay juice is added to the macerating Pinot Noir and the two ferment together. The blend is 55% Chardonnay and 45% Pinot Noir; around 20% of the wine was vinified in oak, there is no malolactic fermentation and the dosage is 7 grams per litre.

The result is a Champagne of rare precision, built for decades of ageing.
