Tasting notes

Brilliant golden yellow. The nose is intense, with apricot, candied orange peel, pineapple, honey, saffron and vanilla. The palate is rich and unctuous yet lifted by vibrant acidity, with layers of exotic fruit and spice and an exceptionally long, luminous finish.

About this wine

Château d'Yquem is the only Premier Cru Supérieur of the 1855 Classification and the most celebrated sweet wine in the world. Its vineyards in Sauternes benefit from autumn mists rising from the Ciron river, which encourage noble rot, and the grapes are picked berry by berry over several passes.

The 2016 blends around 80% Sémillon and 20% Sauvignon Blanc, fermented and aged in new oak barrels. It combines luscious richness with vibrant acidity, the hallmark of this fresh, precise vintage, and will age for decades.
