Tasting notes

Bright straw yellow with a fine, steady bead. The nose is clean and inviting, white orchard fruit and citrus over a discreet note of brioche and almond. The palate is fresh and finely textured, the dosage restrained, and the finish is chalky, dry and persistent.

About this wine

Billecart-Salmon was founded in 1818 at Mareuil-sur-Aÿ, when Nicolas François Billecart and Elisabeth Salmon joined their two families. It remains one of the few large Champagne houses still owned and run by the founding line, today under Mathieu Roland-Billecart, the seventh generation.

The house made its name in 1999, when its 1959 Cuvée Nicolas François Billecart won the Champagne of the Millennium tasting against 150 wines of the twentieth century. Inspiration 1818 carries the founding year in its name: a non-vintage brut built for the aperitif and equally at ease at the table.
