Tasting notes

Pale gold with yellow-green glints. Candied mandarin, limoncello, pear, cedar and fresh butter with a chalky edge on the nose. The palate is creamy and precise, with citrus zest, almond biscuit and white pepper, finishing long on cardamom and vanilla custard.

About this wine

Cuvée Louis Salmon bears the name of the brother of co-founder Elisabeth Salmon, the oenologist who crafted the first wines of Billecart-Salmon after the house was founded in 1818.

The 2012 vintage is a Blanc de Blancs made entirely from grand cru villages of the Côte des Blancs: Le Mesnil-sur-Oger, Cramant, Chouilly and Oiry. A quarter of the wine was fermented in oak casks, and it spent 115 months on the lees before disgorgement with a dosage of 3.9 g/l.

Creamy, precise and long, it is a great vintage Chardonnay Champagne built to age.
