Tasting notes

Bright copper-pink with a fine, insistent bead. Delicate aromatics lead: wild strawberry, redcurrant and rose petal, backed by pastry and toasted almond from the long lees ageing. The palate is driven by intense, refreshing acidity, the fruit tightly drawn, and the finish is long and firmly characterful.

About this wine

Antica Fratta stands at Monticelli Brusati, in the heart of Franciacorta, where cellar galleries cut into the rock in 1850 still hold the bottles. Essence Rosé is the house's vintage rosé, drawn from Pinot Nero and Chardonnay grown on the morainic hills of Monterotondo and the slopes above Monticelli Brusati.

The Pinot Nero is given a cold maceration to draw out aroma and colour, while the Chardonnay brings complexity and finesse. Only the first pressing fractions are used, a yield of no more than 45%, and the wine is vinified in stainless steel before at least thirty months on the lees in bottle.
