How to serve it
Tasting notes
Pale straw yellow with greenish reflections and a fine, persistent perlage. The nose shows white fruit, citrus and delicate notes of bread crust. The palate is lively and fresh, with bright acidity, a soft balanced texture and a clean finish that ends on a citrus note.
About this wine
The '61 range of Guido Berlucchi takes its name from 1961, the year the young oenologist Franco Ziliani sealed the first 3,000 bottles of Franciacorta in the cellars of Borgonato. The Extra Brut is the freshest expression of the line, made from grapes sourced across the nineteen municipalities of Franciacorta, with a low dosage of about 5 g/l.
The blend is 85% Chardonnay and 15% Pinot Nero. After the second fermentation in bottle the wine rests on its lees for at least 24 months, followed by a further two months after disgorgement, producing fine bubbles and a clean, precise profile.
The bottle comes in the metal "Lampadina" gift box, shaped like a light bulb: a tribute to the bright idea that gave birth to Franciacorta.
