Tasting notes

Pale straw yellow with fine, persistent bubbles. Aromas of hawthorn, bread crust, balsamic hints, rennet apple, dried figs and peanuts. The palate is soft but not sweet, fresh and confident, with a long finish.

About this wine

Contadi Castaldi is a winery in Adro, part of the Terra Moretti group, known for a fresh, contemporary reading of Franciacorta. Its Satèn is made entirely from Chardonnay and seeks a balance between complexity and easy drinking.

The vines, around 26 years old on average, grow on the varied soils of the area. The base wine ferments in stainless steel with partial malolactic fermentation and then spends a long period on its lees in the bottle.

The 2018 combines the soft, silky mousse typical of Satèn with the depth that comes from extended ageing.
