Tasting notes

Intense straw yellow with a fine, gentle perlage. The nose is rich with ripe yellow and tropical fruit, moving towards candied citrus and a hint of pastry. The palate is silky and creamy, with marked acidity and salinity, good structure and a long, precise finish.

About this wine

'61 Satèn is the all-Chardonnay cuvée of the range with which Guido Berlucchi celebrates 1961, the year of the first Franciacorta. The grapes come from the Franciacorta hills of Lombardy, and the blend includes 10% reserve wines aged in barriques and tonneaux for extra depth.

As a Satèn, it is bottled with a lower pressure of about 5 atmospheres, which gives the wine its signature silky, creamy texture. After the second fermentation in bottle it rests on its lees for at least 24 months, followed by a further two months after disgorgement.

The 1.5 l Magnum format is made for special occasions and ages with particular grace.
