Tasting notes

Pale straw yellow with greenish highlights. The nose is intense and long, evolving from fruit to flowers, with notes of flint and Mediterranean herbs. The palate is broad and saline, dry and mineral, with crisp acidity and a persistent finish of almond and walnut.

About this wine

La Scolca is a family winery in Gavi, Piedmont, that has worked with the Cortese grape for four generations. "Etichetta Nera Gold Edition" is a special release of its iconic Gavi dei Gavi, drawn from the estate's oldest and best-suited vineyards in Rovereto.

The grapes are fermented cold with a partial maceration on the skins, and the wine rests on its own lees in stainless steel until bottling. This technique gives Etichetta Nera its saline, mineral character and an outstanding ability to keep its personality for many years.

Released as Gavi del Comune di Gavi DOCG, the Gold Edition is dressed for celebrations without changing the wine's precise, dry style.
