Tasting notes

Pale straw yellow with delicate greenish highlights. The nose is intense and long, moving from fruit to flowers as it opens, with notes of flint and citrus. The palate is broad and saline, dry and mineral, with crisp acidity and a persistent finish of almond and walnut.

About this wine

La Scolca is a family winery in Gavi, Piedmont, that has worked with the Cortese grape for four generations. Gavi dei Gavi "Etichetta Nera" is its iconic wine: a selection from the estate's oldest vineyards in Rovereto, some of them up to sixty years old.

The grapes are fermented cold with a partial maceration on the skins, and the wine then rests on its own lees in stainless steel until bottling, which gives it texture, salinity and a remarkable ability to age. It is released as Gavi del Comune di Gavi DOCG.

This 375 ml half bottle is the ideal size for an aperitivo for two or a light dinner.
