Tasting notes

Straw yellow with greenish highlights. The nose is floral and elegant, jasmine first, then citrus blossom and a note of Mediterranean scrub. The palate is fresh and juicy, well knit, with yellow and blood-orange citrus running through to a clean, gently bitter close.

About this wine

Gelsomino is Firriato's dry white from Zibibbo, the aromatic variety better known in Sicily for sweet wines. The fruit comes from the Borgo Guarini and Baglio Sorìa estates in the province of Trapani, where hillside vineyards at 300 to 400 metres catch the sea breeze.

That maritime influence, with the wide day-night temperature swing, keeps the wine fresh and the floral character sharp. Picking is by hand at the end of August, and the wine then spends three months on its lees in stainless steel, stirred daily.
