Tasting notes

Pale gold with green glints. The nose shows ripe citrus, white flowers and a distinct flinty, stony minerality. The palate is full-bodied and precise, with juicy fruit carried by vibrant acidity and a saline edge, closing on a long, mineral finish.

About this wine

Chablis Premier Cru "Montée de Tonnerre" comes from Domaine Jean-Paul & Benoît Droin, a family estate whose roots in Chablis go back almost four centuries; Benoît represents the fourteenth generation. The domaine farms around 13 hectares and produces 14 different wines.

Montée de Tonnerre is one of the most highly regarded Premier Cru sites on the right bank of the Serein. The vines here average about 50 years and grow on limestone soils. Fermentation takes place partly in stainless steel and partly in barrel, with full malolactic conversion, followed by 8–10 months of ageing in steel.

Made from 100% Chardonnay, it is a full, mineral Chablis produced in roughly 9,500 bottles a year and able to age for more than 15 years.
