Tasting notes

Deep copper-pink with a delicate bead. Wild strawberry, blood orange and dried rose petal meet notes of bread crust and spice. The palate is vinous and textured, with red-fruit depth, chalky grip and firm acidity. The finish is dry, savoury and persistent.

About this wine

Larmandier-Bernier works 18 hectares in Vertus and the Côte des Blancs under organic and biodynamic certification, with Pierre and Sophie Larmandier favouring long lees ageing and very low dosage.

Rosé de Maturation is made from Pinot Noir grown on the clay-rich slopes of Vertus. The grapes are given a short maceration on the skins to draw colour and structure, then fermented with indigenous yeasts in wood. The wine spends an extended period on its lees before disgorgement, which gives it the breadth that its name suggests.

It is a gastronomic rosé Champagne rather than an aperitif curiosity.
