Tasting notes

Pale gold with a fine, lively mousse. Lemon, green apple and white flowers give way to almond, iodine and wet chalk. The palate is taut and bone-dry, with razor-sharp acidity, a fine saline grain and remarkable purity. The finish is austere, stony and very long.

About this wine

Larmandier-Bernier farms its 18 hectares in Vertus and the surrounding Côte des Blancs organically and biodynamically, a choice made long before it became common in Champagne.

Terre de Vertus is a single-village Blanc de Blancs from Premier Cru Chardonnay planted on the chalk of Vertus. It is fermented with indigenous yeasts, completes malolactic fermentation, and matures on its lees for several years. The wine is bottled with no dosage at all, so the chalk and the vintage speak without any cushioning sweetness.

It is among the most transparent expressions of the Vertus terroir.
