Tasting notes

Golden with a fine, slow bead. An intense nose of candied lemon, quince, hazelnut and beeswax, over a core of chalk and iodine. The palate is dense and vinous, with deep fruit held by taut acidity and a stony grip. The finish is powerful, saline and exceptionally long.

About this wine

Larmandier-Bernier is based in Vertus and works 18 hectares in the Côte des Blancs under organic and biodynamic certification, with fermentations led by native yeasts and dosages kept to a minimum.

Vieille Vigne du Levant comes from a single parcel of old Chardonnay vines on the eastern slope of Cramant, a Grand Cru village known for its deep chalk. The wine ferments in oak, completes malolactic fermentation and spends several years on its lees before disgorgement with almost no added sugar.

It is the estate's most concentrated bottling, and the one that ages longest.
