Tasting notes

Golden yellow with a bright gold sheen and a fine, creamy bead. The nose is intense and honeyed, with ripe orchard fruit, brioche and toasted notes. The palate is full and powerful, with citrus and nutty accents, great depth and a long, mineral finish.

About this wine

Le Clos Saint-Hilaire is the rarest wine of Billecart-Salmon, the family house founded in 1818 in Mareuil-sur-Aÿ. It comes from a single walled vineyard of about one hectare beside the family home, planted with Pinot Noir in 1964 and farmed with great care.

Made exclusively from Pinot Noir, it is a Blanc de Noirs: a white champagne from black grapes. The wine is vinified in oak and then aged for around fifteen years on its lees in the cellars before release, which explains its extraordinary depth.

Produced only in selected years and in very limited quantities, the 2006 vintage is a collector's champagne that expresses one parcel, one grape and one year with remarkable precision.
