How to serve it
Tasting notes
Pale gold with fine, lively bubbles. The nose offers red apple, pear, wild strawberry and a hint of brioche. The palate is round and vinous, with the body of Pinot Noir balanced by crisp acidity and a chalky freshness, closing on a long, fruity finish with subtle toasty notes.
About this wine
Mailly Grand Cru is a growers' house in the village of Mailly-Champagne, on the northern slopes of the Montagne de Reims, where its members farm about 70 hectares of vineyards entirely classified Grand Cru.
Blanc de Pinot Noir is made solely from Pinot Noir grown in these Grand Cru plots. Only first-press juice is used, blended with reserve wines for depth and consistency, and the wine ages on its lees in the house's chalk cellars before disgorgement with a Brut dosage of 8 g/l.
The result is a white Champagne with the structure and fruit of Pinot Noir and the freshness of chalky soils, rated 91 points by James Suckling and by Wine Enthusiast.
