Tasting notes

Medium ruby colour. Aromas of ripe cherry and dried plum with tobacco, dry herbs and a touch of spice. Medium-bodied on the palate, with fresh acidity, medium tannins and a warm, savoury finish typical of Melnik 55.

About this wine

Libera Estate is a winery from the Melnik region in the Struma Valley, the warm south-west corner of Bulgaria. This red is made from Melnik 55, the variety created in Melnik by crossing the Broad-Leaved Melnik vine with Valdiguié – bred to ripen earlier than its parent while keeping its character.

The profile is cherry, dried plum, tobacco and dry herbs, with good acidity and medium tannins. It is an honest, food-friendly expression of the local grape.

Serve at 16–18 °C with lamb, stuffed peppers with meat or cheeses.
