Tasting notes

Golden yellow. Aromas of acacia honey and raisins, with hints of dried fruit. The palate is delicate and rounded, moderately sweet and harmonious, with a long, honeyed finish.

About this wine

Picolit is Friuli's most celebrated sweet wine, made from the rare native grape of the same name. La Roncaia produces it in the Friuli Colli Orientali hills within the Colli Orientali del Friuli Picolit DOCG, one of the region's most prestigious appellations.

The grapes are harvested in late October and part of the crop is left to raisin for about six weeks. Fermentation takes place partly in stainless steel and partly in oak barrels, and after blending in late spring the wine matures for a long period in barrique.

The 2020 is delicate, rounded and moderately sweet, a refined wine for meditation or to accompany dessert and cheese.
