Tasting notes

Deep garnet red. A complex nose of ripe black cherry, blackberry and plum with pepper and herbs from the Syrah, graphite and violet from the Cabernet Franc and a bright sour cherry note from the Sangiovese, framed by vanilla and cedar from new French oak. Full-bodied, structured and long.

About this wine

Sycagy Exclusive Lot 2017 is a completely new blend from Zlaten Rozhen, a winery in the Melnik area of south-west Bulgaria. Its name spells out the recipe: Syrah (Sy), Cabernet Franc (Ca) and the Italian variety Sangiovese (Gy), from 20-year-old vines in Levunovo.

The grapes were picked at perfect phenolic ripeness with maximum aromatic potential. The wine spent 21 days in contact with the skins, with malolactic fermentation taking place during maceration, followed by 12 months of ageing in new French oak barrels.

Serve at 16–18 °C with roast red meat, game and mature cheeses.
