Garnet-ruby. Blackberry and dried plum with dried herbs and warm spice. Medium-bodied and mature, with medium tannins and a smooth, savoury finish.

About this wine

Ruen is a rare Bulgarian grape from the Struma Valley, practically unknown outside a handful of local wineries – which is why Villa Melnik includes it in its Rare Varieties series.

The 2017 vintage is already mature: blackberry, dried plum, dried herbs and spice with medium tannins. Serve at 16–18 °C with lamb or grilled meat.
