Tasting notes

Golden straw colour. Bottle age has turned green aromas into citrus peel, beeswax and a light flinty note. The palate is fuller and rounder than young Sauvignon, with fresh acidity and a savoury, mineral finish.

About this wine

Minkovi Brothers, founded in 1875 in Karnobat, is one of the oldest working wineries in Bulgaria. Its Enoteca series releases wines only after some years of bottle age.

That is rare for Sauvignon Blanc: here the fresh green aromatics have given way to a fuller, waxier profile with citrus peel and a light flinty nuance. The 2020 is an unusual, more gastronomic take on the grape.

Serve at 10–12 °C with baked fish, white meat or mature goat's cheese.
