Tasting notes

Straw yellow with a fine, persistent mousse. The nose is fresh, fruity and gently spicy, with aromatic herbs, sage and citrus peel. The palate is lively and saline, with refreshing acidity, medium body and a long finish that echoes with lemon and sea salt.

About this wine

Piero Mancini's winery at Olbia works exclusively with grapes from the family's own vineyards in Gallura, the only DOCG zone on Sardinia. Vermentino here grows on soils of decomposed granite swept by sea winds.

This sparkling version is made by the Charmat method in small pressure tanks, with an unusually long rest on the lees that gives the wine finesse and lasting freshness rather than overt fruitiness. Fermentation is temperature-controlled in stainless steel throughout. It is a sparkling wine of clear Mediterranean character, dry and saline, conceived for the table as much as for the aperitif hour.
