Tasting notes

Bright straw gold with green reflections. The nose opens on white peach, lime zest and acacia blossom, with a flinty note from the granite beneath. The palate is broad yet taut, its ripe stone fruit framed by firm acidity and a faint saline bite. The finish is long, mineral and dry, echoing citrus peel and crushed stone.

About this wine

Zind-Humbrecht farms some of the finest terroirs of Alsace from its cellar at Turckheim, and has worked its vineyards biodynamically since the 1990s. The Brand Grand Cru rises steeply above the village on warm pink granite, a site prized for centuries for the power and perfume it gives Riesling.

Picked at full ripeness and fermented with indigenous yeasts in large neutral casks, this 2016 is bottled without fining or filtration. The granite lends a saline, faintly smoky grip, while the warm exposure fills the wine out with ripe orchard fruit.
